Emergency Care Center (ECC) – Cindy Kolich, RN, Director

Understanding that the people who enter our Center are often nervous and frightened, we pride ourselves in placing a high emphasis on patient satisfaction. Our 29-bed Emergency Care Center (ECC) was designed to bring care to our patients rather than moving them for tests and procedures. Fourteen of our rooms are equipped with life support equipment, plus each room has a television and in-room registration. We are not a trauma center, however, we are the third busiest emergency care center in the Kansas City metro, providing our staff with a wide variety of cases including a high number of pediatric patients. Learn more about the Emergency Care Center.

“The nurse could tell I was in a lot of pain. She said she would get the doctor to give me something right away; I had it within 5 minutes. She made me feel very comfortable and told me exactly what was going to happen. Everyone made me feel better and they did everything in a good amount of time. I would recommend your hospital.”

The Birth Place and Women’s Health Center – Lori Finn,, RN, Director

Extensive research and planning when designing The Birth Place and Women’s Health Center have made these units a beautiful and serene place for families to grow and for female patients to recover from surgical procedures and other health issues. Wood floors, whirlpool tubs and queen-size Murphy beds await our expectant mothers.

Our patient care staff has multiple opportunities to apply a broad range of nursing skills within these departments. Nurses have the unique opportunity to bond with families, usually staying with one patient from labor and delivery to post-delivery care. Teamwork excels as staff is always prepared for multiple situations that arise during childbirth – both expected and unexpected. Learn more about the Women's Center and The Birth Place

The Critical Care Unit (CCU) – Joey Barton, RN, Director

The Critical Care Unit offers our nurses and patient care staff an opportunity to gain an enormous amount of experience as we care for patients with cardiothoracic and neuro-surgical issues, as well as, complex medical and higher-risk surgical patients. The physicians, including our pulmonologists who are certified in critical care medicine, are excellent to work with and provide a great resource for staff. We have a wonderful team environment in which to care for the most critically ill patients. Learn more about the Critical Care Unit.

“The ICU nurses were all very nice, professional and caring. I felt confident that I was in good hands during my stay. They were very attentive to my needs and very understanding of my anxiety and fears. They helped put me at ease during a very scary experience. They should be commended for a job very well done.”

3 North and 4 North – Elaine Patton, RN, Director

With an average patient stay of 3 to 5 days, 3 North provides nurses with a great experience in working with the complexities of a step-down med/surg patient with cardiac needs. The staff has been educated to care for the renal failure patients requiring dialysis.

4 North has a shorter patient stay of 1.5 to 2 days. Patient needs are primarily cardiac related. Telemetry monitored care in conjunction with the Kansas Cardiovascular Center and the Emergency Care Center is our focus. The staff expertise in the cardiac field includes post-procedure heart attack patients as well as heart failure, pacemaker and arrhythmia patients.

The nurses and physicians at Olathe Medical Center work together as a team to provide outstanding patient care. Special computerized patient monitors are worn by nurses with telemetry background, keeping them constantly informed on the status of their patients. Nurses who do not have a telemetry background find this system one of the best for learning.

“If anyone has to go to a hospital, I hope they choose Olathe Medical Center, where they’ll get great care, true feelings and personal uplift. Thanks again. ”

Kansas Cardiovascular Center – Lucretia Craig, RN, Director

We provide easy access to excellent cardiovascular care. Our patients are contacted the evening before scheduled procedures so they arrive feeling connected with the staff and have knowledge of the day’s events. Our patients prepare for any test or procedure in a room designed to resemble a bedroom and recover in a similar environment where most medical devices are hidden to minimize anxiety. Our staff works hard to ensure both patient and family have the best experience possible. Learn more about the Kansas Cardiovascular Center .
