Latest
Technology
Olathe Medical Center is among the first hospitals in the Kansas City
area to implement the latest technology in obtaining and storing cardiovascular
data. The Marquette MUSE Cardiovascular Information System collects,
analyzes and stores data. It will allow rapid comparisons to previous
diagnostic tests on file. Instant computer analysis of the current
electrocardiogram now in place gives physicians and nurses the edge
in providing optimal patient care.

KCC Recovery Unit
Lucretia
Craig, RN, Kansas Cardiovascular Center, Director
“The KCC Recovery Unit is designed to care
for outpatient cardiac and special procedures patients. It was created
to provide a nurse to phone patients to discuss their scheduled outpatient
catherizations the night before to alleviate concerns and answer questions.
The following day, the patient arrives already feeling a connection
to the staff. They educate, prep and release the patient to the cath
lab staff for their procedure. Once completed, the patient is returned
to recover and ensure they are ready to return home. The unit
has a comfortable environment with as little viewable medical equipment
as possible to aid in maintaining a low anxiety level. Same
day procedures
such as transesophageal echos, tilt table exams and cardioversions
are performed in this area. The staff is well prepared to handle any
post-procedure issue."
