Appointments
Olathe Medical Center Certain tests require special collections, technical steps, multiple collections and/or lengthy collection times. Special Specimen Collection Information

24-Hour Urine Collection
Physicians often order tests that require the patient to collect all of their urine for a 24-hour period. The Laboratory will provide you with the collection container and detailed directions for the collection. If your physician orders a 24-hour collection, please stop by the lab to pick up the proper collection container.
Fasting (No Food)
Certain tests require that the patient not ingest food for a period of up to 12 hours prior to specimen collection. Tests that are performed in this manner give a more accurate result for the physician. These tests include:

Lipid Panel
Cholesterol
Triglyceride
HDL (High-Density Lipoproteins)
LDL (Low-Density Lipoproteins)
Fasting Glucose
Glucose Tolerance Test
