The Birth Place features Labor-Delivery-Recovery-Postpartum (LDRP) suites that allow families to stay in one convenient room for their entire hospital stay.

Amenities for Mom
The Birth Place at Olathe Medical Center has amenities unlike any other hospital in the Kansas City area. Every room features comfortable a queen-size bed, so the needs of mom to rest and sleep are optimized and promoted in a home-like atmosphere with the utmost comfort possible. A CD stereo sound system, state-of-the-art medical equipment and storage, stylish decor and a private whirlpool bath are available in each of the spacious LDRP patient rooms. Nursing/Parenting Care
"Our philosophy ensures that parents will have individualized care, instruction and attention throughout their stay." said Lori Finn, RN, Director, The Birth Place and Women's Health Center. "Parenting is a learned behavior and becoming a mother requires major changes. The nursing care in The Birth Place promotes family bonding and the learning of parenting skills right from the start."

Advanced Security
With the latest in infant abduction prevention technologies in place, including sensor equipment, cameras and alarms, our patients' security is a high priority.

Our Philosophy
The board-certified Obstetricians, Gynecologists and Family Practice Physicians who deliver services at Olathe Medical Center worked closely with our administration and nursing staff in the development of The Birth Place and Women's Health Center. Our philosophy is to work together to provide modern medicine and compassionate care. Our expectation for high levels of expertise is combined with our demand for respect of individuals. Our emphasis is on education and support of the patient and her family.

Obstetrician/Gynecologists
Olathe Medical Center's obstetricians and gynecologists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of women and their reproductive systems. Specially Trained Nurses
Nurses at The Birth Place are trained in prenatal and childbirth care, including high-risk care. Your labor and delivery nurses are specially trained to manage any complications that may occur with mom or baby. All nurses are certified in Neonatal Resuscitation to provide quality and competent care to newborns. Certified lactation consultants and certified breast-feeding educators are available to mothers who choose to breast-feed their infants.

Classes and Other Services
Our support groups, special sibling classes, Small Talk Line, Lactation Line and other specialty programs keep women in touch with others who share their concerns and with the healthcare providers they need. We can help provide important links to other hospital services, such as fitness, nutrition and stress management programs, physician information, mammography and bone density testing.
